CS-144 install guru's....
http://sethirdgen.org/cs144.htm
Ive read that article 2 dozen times making sure I knew what to do...seems very straight forward.
Per the article:
First thing you will need to do is aquire the parts. Here are the part numbers:
Bracket: 10118722
Alternator: 10463338
Ive got them, same bracket and same alternator...although my PN is 10480201 it cross references to the one listed.
The problem I have is here:
Since these two parts were never designed to go together, some modifications are required. The casing on the mammoth CS-144 is to big for the support bracket, so some grinding must be done for it to sit in the bracket. Its better to remove some from the casing, then it is to remove from the support. You only need to remove maybe a 1/16 of an inch. You'll have to test fit untill both bolt holes line up. This is actually the bottom of the alternator, so you won't see it when your done.
As you can see in the pics below, Im gonna need to shave more then 1/16" off this thing. It appears if I do get the alt-bracket holes to line up the bracket-engine mounts wont align. In the third pic, that hole will be below the alt housing????
How far mounts are off...
Bracket mounting hole to engine.... seems as though if I get the other holes to align this one will then be off...

Do you need a CS144? A CS130 is much easier to install.

In a K5 Blazer with 4 100W aux lights, plans on adding 6 more, cab roof lights, CB, decent stero, blasting AC all summer in Phoenix...possible winch in the future...
...already did "Big 3"...140A should be more than enough, however 105A isnt.

Re: CS-144 install guru's....
I've been fixing some wiring on 2012 International Prostar trucks. I'm not sure what the rating is on the alternator but the trucks use 2/0 cable from the charging post on the alternator down to the starter post. I realize a high amp draw from the alternator should need a bigger wire but 2/0 battery cable? That's around 1/2" thick copper wire. Even 4 gauge wire should be more than enough.
Many times it's also easier to install dual alternators on a pickup truck than it is to install one large one.
I run a CS130 in my race car. It's 4 pounds lighter than a 10SI and puts out a lot more amps at lower rpms.
