First off:
Doesn't matter what you do, you'd have to fix the fuel pump.
So leave that COMPLETELY out of the equation.
Now: assume the fuel pump is fixed, and the car is back on the road.
Given that new state of affairs, why do you want to rebuild ANYTHING?

well the reason of why i want to rebuild the engine is cause my head gaskets are blown and i dont know how far the damage had became and i think down the road and to save some money going the 350 way would be best and since the 350 id be getting is used id rather rebuild it so its all new inside it

If you plan to make it a daily driver, fix the fuel pump, rebuild the 305, you may not be in it that deep. If it's just a head gasket, it's no big deal, replace it and keep driving it. Unless you are just hell bent on rebuilding it for fun. Nothing wrong with a 305 runs just fine, gets good mileage and still puts out plenty of power
IMO.
