Please Help!! 92 rs 3.1
Hi everyone im new to the site and didnt know where else to turn for help. I have a 1992 camaro rs 25th anniversary edition with a 3.1 v6. Ive been having a "ghost" problem that comes and goes randomly. Starting cold the car cranks and runs perfectly. Ive noticed that after it has warmed up completely and has been driven for like 30 mins it starts to run a little rougher and if i stop somewhere and shut the car off, when I go to restart the car I will get ignition but it will "chug", it will have no power, the rpms will surge up and down and if i press the gas it will struggle to hold rpms. eventually the engine will die and it will get to the point where if I try to restart it wont even ignite. when this happens, I have to sit and wait like 15-30 minutes depending on how "nice" my car wants to be and it will restart like normal eventually. like i said, this problem only occurs after the engine has warmed up and the car has been driven somewhere, and the car always returns back to normal after I let it sit for a period of time.
Parts I have replaced trying to fix this:
EGR
O2 sensor
Ignition Module
Ignition Coil Pack
Spark Plugs and Wires
MAP Sensor
IAC Valve
PCV Valve
I have not replaced the fuel pressure regulator but have used a troubleshooting guide to check it and it seems fine
I really have no idea what else could be causing this problem, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Please Help!! 92 rs 3.1
I have a 92 3.1 RS and it was and still is doing kinda the same thing, but would always start fine. What mine was doing is once warm after about 15 mins it would sputter if you presses the gas much at all and stall if you stayed on the gas. It was fine on idle and would rev good in park. When cold it ran super good. I took it to a shop and they found a split plug wire boot and the vac line elbow to the Fuel reg was all chewed up by a rodant-it has been too cold and drak to daig the car myself and the shop is close and cheap. Now the car runs much better, but at times when it's warm it will get a bit sluggish unless I really get into it. I still need to do a full tune up so we shall see.
I have seen other post with 3.1's that act funny once warm and I have no idea what the rear issue is?

Have you checked the injectors and fuel pressure regulator? If not, and it's original you almost certainly need to replace the injectors and regulator diaphragm. What you describe is consistent with them being bad.

The pressure may be ok but if the diaphragm is old gas can seep through. Pull the vac line of the regulator and smell for gas in the vac line.

i did pull the vac line on my regulator, my buddy advised that if there was a problem there would actually be gas in the line, the line was dry but i didnt test for odor

SOLVED! i pulled my distributor to replace the ignition pickup coil and i found that my distributor was completely shot. The o-rings were gone and the teeth around the pickup coil were bent. I replaced the entire distributor and now the problem is gone and its running like a champ. thanks for your help everyone!
