I have LG4 305.
I want rebiuld him!
I use SEARCH and reade more Thread
I can not choose cam and intake.
My Camaro have:
-CR 9.5:1 (flat piston)

-Holley 600cmf double pump
-long headers Hedman-68460
-heads '801 porting 1.84''/1.5''
-maybe rokers 1.6:1
I want low fuel consumption (city 20l/100km) and good idle, and fast car 1/4 (14s-15s)
What would be better for me?
Edelbrock 7501 & XE262H or Edelbrock 2701 & XE256H

This one.
The brand of intake does not have to be Edelbrock if you can find the same design from another source.
A good vacuum advance distributor will also help you with fuel mileage.

Re: XE256H or XE262H cam for 305?
XE256 would give you enuff cam for what you want to do. Getting the heads to flow the best they can will get you more HP than the cam changes anyway. Also put 1.94" valves in the heads with a good 3 angle VJ, MAKE SURE YOU HAVE STRONGER VALVE SPRINGS, a real good exhaust system, and your tune has to be right. 12.8 afr and about 36-38 degrees timing. I've built many 305 combos over the years from 14 second cars to low 12 second cars. I have a current car that I built for my dad that runs 12.70s @ 106 mph.

Edelbrock is fine too.
There's not a lot of difference between them.

Whatever manifold you get just make sure you notch the divider about a inch so that all four of the carb's bores are seeing both sides of the manifold. That will increase the flow of the carb to the engine but still keep the low end punch.

His motor might like the notch, some dont .
Id leave it so the intake pulls as hard on those boosters as it could. No spacer
Food for thought.

12.8:1 is LEAN for todays fuels which are likely doused with ethanol.
36-38* of timing, you must be running sick compression ratios, with crappy quench and 350 smog heads. My Vortec/L98 head 305s like 26-32* of timing all the way past 6,500 rpm. Any more and I was losing power quickly.

[quote=Fast355;5491745]XE262 would be a better cam in a 305 and give up nothing to the XE256 above the stall speed of a decent converter.

LOL, 12.8 to 1 is not lean at all. Most of my chevy combos make the most power with a 13.0-13.2 to 1 afr but that is a bit too lean for me on the street. You guys kill me when something works for one person and doesn't work for others. I've built 305 combos that's ran 12s and even built a 11 second strip car for a guy but I didn't get on here to prove to people what I have done or what I can do, I'm just tryin to help the OP. He is not building what you have built, he listed 801 heads not Vortecs, low fuel consumption not max HP, and a goal of 14 to 15 seconds in the 1/4 which is easy to do with a stock cam.

Well this is my opinion, it seems to me like you want a nice fast car that you can drive when and where you want, easy to tune, get good mpg, and not be a headache on the street. 14-15 second car is pretty much what a bone stock 91 Formula 305 TPI 5pd ran on stock tires with only the rated 225 hp. With just your ported heads and the rest of your setup you can make way more power than that. Throw in the XE256 and you will make even more but it will be smooth and easy going on the street. The heads, exhaust and tune is the key to these motors.

The air gap intake will just warm up to engine temperature completely by the time the engine is warm anyway. If you buy it because it just looks awesome I wouldnt blame you. But dont expect more power out of it. There may be a little... but it aint much.

2701 not rpm

Re: XE256H or XE262H cam for 305?
The 2701 is EPS = Edelbrock Performer Series.
It is just fine for most 305 engines.
Since you have a manual trans you may notice a performance increase by
using the 7101 Performer RPM, but the difference will be pretty small if any. With larger engines or higher RPM application the 7101 will show larger gains.
The 7101 flange sits a little higher and so might cause a clearance issue.
