Swap on Non Comp Controled Carb & Dist What do I do with ECM?
Hi, I am taking off the Elec Controlled Q Jet and Dist, Putting on a 650 DP and a MSD Dist what do I do with the ECM? Is it controlling anything at this point? Can it hurt Perf and Mileage?

I'm guessing your using a 5 spd? You don't have to do anything w/ the ecm, your check engine light will be on all the time. All you need is voltage to the coil to run the engine.
If your car has a auto trans, you'll need to find a way to engage the torque converter clutch, they make a kit or use a pressure switch for 4th gear only lock up.

You can pull the entire ECM harness out through the passenger side fender and remove the ECM. It controls nothing now.

What about the fan and the Gauges? I only have put about 1,000 Miles on teh car in teh last ten years, I'll manage with the gas. I'll pull the bulb.

So if I remove the ECM all ogether the fan and such will still work? I just wasnt sure if they were controled by the ECM.
About 15 Years ago I installed a Summit 350 in this car and did away with all the Elec but left the ECM in place, I have been away from cars for many years doing other things and it is crazy the stuff you do forget. Thanks

Can I remove the sensors from the thermostat housing?
What are they for?
Does one control the Temp gauge? if so which one?
can I put it someone else?
I want to put a nicer one on there.

The two sensors are a Thermal Vacuum Switch (TVS) for the Early Fuel Evaporation (EFE) valve and the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) that provides temperature signal for the ECM. The guage reads off of the sensor in the left cylinder head.
