Engine Enamel

Just a little background I'm a Marine currently deployed in Afghan and im restoring my 84 z28 for my own welcome home present. I'm getting a turn key 383 built from phoenix engine in AZ and their color choices are not what i'm looking for. Ideally I want the block and heads painted Chevy Arrival Blue to match other things i have planned but cant find a suitable engine enamel to match. Any ideas or colors that are close to it? I'm sure my answer is somewhere on this site by my time is limited since im in a tiny shack in afghan ha.

Can any paint shop mix a paint to resist the heat of an engine though?

It may be question of how long you want it to last on the engine block. You can try the rattle can high heat varieties and for a few years they should work well for a weekend warrior/cruiser. If you want it to last over five years go with a professional paint mixed at a paint distributor. I use the high temp rattle cans with fine results, but then again I have never kept an engine in more than four years...

Re: Engine Enamel

I want it to last a lifetime ha. Ill call up some paint shops in the area and see if its possible to mix a high temp custom color for me. Its ridiculous how limited the colors are for premixed engine enamel or any kind of high temp paint

Re: Engine Enamel

Remember one the most important things is also to get the outside of the block rust and grease or oil free. Its helpful to take a propane torch to the outside of the block before doing the final wipe.

Re: Engine Enamel
