New starter, New battery, New Dist still wont' start
Long story short i have a 91 camaro with a 350 tbi, I bought the car about a week or two ago. The starter solenoid went out so i swapped the starter, I also went ahead and installed a brand new battery as well... I removed the old Distributor and looked and the spring had gone out, so i installed a brand new distributer/rotor/cap. Checked the chilton firing order i put brand new wires/plugs in the engine. And it still turns over but will not crank and start running. I'm getting super frustrated with the car and cannot figure out why it will not start. I checked fuel pump and pressure it's all checking out. please help thank you

I also believe since the old dist malfunctioned, i did not mark anything when i installed the new distributor, i put it in with the rotor pointed to where number 1 should be, and still i've got nothing

Remove the #1 spark plug & check for spark, you never know could be something as simple as a wire that was not connected properly or new part that was defective. Thats the first place to start, before you throw anymore money into it.
Also since you removed the dist. you may have to find TDC again. But first check for spark.

I was getting spark because i had flame and backfire through throttle body so wouldn't that designate spark?

If your getting flame & backfire the more then likley your not at TDC.
Thats how I did it.
I can't remember but I think the dizzy has to be out. Once you have TDC you put it back in, then try to fire it up again. It may still require a little adjustment after you find TDC, but it should run..... Best of luck. I'd also recommend a search on it, to verify, if not one else chimes in.........

Yeah. If I remember correctly it has to come out for TDC. I did it about 5mos or so ago & I cannot remember for sure tho. Someone on here has to know tho. Give it a little more time for a response or do a search.

I've replaced cap rotor checked wires have spark at accel remote coil and at cap. Preparing to change ignition module under distributor and burnoff relay. 383 stroker near 450+ hp TPI 87 Iroc custom chip. Radical cam. Removed cat ran fine put in storage for winter now no start. Checking everything related to ignition and spark before replacing chip. (Unsure what cam info is so will have to remove timing cover to find serial # and call Comp Cams for specs to order new chip)

Alright issue has been fixed thank you guys, found tdc again got the car to crank turned distributor to set timing to idle, but when i put it in gear it would die. The spark plug wires the previous owner installed are way too short and won't allow the distributor to turn so ordered new MSD 8.5 super conductors!
