various issues

Hi guys, new here! Ive done a few searches which were helpful but still got a few things to ask. Hoping you guys can help me out!
I intend on spending several years restoring it to perfection, however there is much I don't know about these cars so I'm hoping some of you guys can help me out.
1. Can someone confirm if the cigarette lighter runs on constant 12v or supposed to be on accessories? As mine is constant. Fault or normal?
2. Headlights. I've read up a little on these. I've put three new little ***** in each motor and the gears seem to have enough on them but I still get the motors running for around 10 seconds after they go down.
3.I have what I believe are the original tyre size, 16" 245's. They seem to rub on the inside wall on a full lock. Does this happen to anyone else? Can this be solved with spacers?
4. Rear demister switch. When I press it the headlights dim and the idle drops... it doesn't stay on for more than a few seconds then idle goes back to normal.
5. Do these early models put out codes for system problems? Is there a way of doing diagnostic checks without tools? (on a car I used to have you could bridge two of the pins on the diagnostic cable input thingy under the dash with a paper clip and would give u any codes via the check engine light ie 12 flashes x3 equals everything is ok! hope u know what I mean)

Everything your saying is normal except the headlights running 4 ten seconds when off.
When you turn the lights off they will run for a sec or 2 then be done. Did you look at the gear teeth on the polly gears?

Remember what you were surfing the Internet with in 1985?

I thought not.

The computers in these cars were just as crude, by modern standards, as whatever you had on your desk in 1985.

Me, I had an actual IBM PC XT. Then in about 86 or 7 I got a Compaq clone; the first real "clone" there was. 20M hard drive, 640k or RAM. What a slow steaming bucket of ... yeah. THAT'S the era of what's running your motor.

1985? Desk? I was 4 years old! lol. I know, these would be of the most primitive systems around. I actually found that error code page and yeah, tried the paper clip trick and nothing, lol, as in it didn't even flash the system ok (12 I believe? what is it with GM and 12 as system ok? The holden's here in Australia use 12 as system ok too) so I guess that's something else to add to my list!
