starter issue

ok i have a 84 z28 5 speed. I built a 350 for the car and put it in and the original starter is the straight pattern and the block i have doesn't have the straight pattern. So we got the diagonal pattern to fit but it doesn't catch the flywheel so my question is does anyone know how to get around this and get the diagonal pattern to fit and work? I thought my motor had both patterns but obviously it didn't. any help will be great this is my only car to drive.
Thanks
Tony

Got plenty of $$$$

or drill and tap the 3rd hole in the block

You can't ,the staggered pattern is for the larger 168 tooth flywheel ; you have the smaller 153 version

Re: starter issue

I don't have lots of money at all and the motor is in the car so won't be easy to drill the hole in the block and keep it straight.
