Camaro has been parked for a couple weeks.
My Bride says " Whats leaking on the Camaro? Did you know it was leaking? X
Well, theres a puddle, not just a few drops!!
I can not get my jack under it to get to the crossmember or the controll arm!!
So I reached under with an extension & ratchet to check the drain plug, its tight.
Oil pressure sending unit is leak free.
Odd-- oil level is fine, right at the full mark, but theres at least a quart on the ground!! I have never over filled it!!

So, with that being said, would a rear main seal leak that bad??

Sounds like it could be a tq converter seal leaking to me.

Stick your finger in the puddle, is it dark brown/black or is it red/light brown? Gotta know if its trans or oil first.

Oil.
Trans fluid is a pint + 1/2 low.

In other news, I got a few patio blocks18x12x2 and drove up them to make room for the jack..

Taking it to the shop Monday for a thorough once over.
Going to have rear trans seal replaced anyway...there's some seepage there.

Rear main seal is above the oil when the car is not running.

You've got a genuine case of alien abduction or gravity inversion or some such if that's going on.

Since none of those qualify as the simplest explanation that fits all the facts, we'll dismiss that one and move on to things that actually are where the oil is.

"Tight" is only a small part of the package with drain plugs; "seal" is the major piece. I'd check it carefully to see if it's actually leaking.

Could also be a pinhole in the pan. Very common, especially if the car has sat around (for like years without running), from water droplets inside the pan rusting through it.

I'll just have him do an oil change while he's got it on the lift & look at the plug gasket.

Today while I was under it, I did notice an " alien anomolie " lol.
There is a fresh scrape right next to the plug! I swear I have never hit anything or bottomed out!! No one but myself drives it.
However, I am now wondering it the scrape is from the roll back tow I got when I had the other issue.

I wiped all the underneath of crud to see if it would be benificial to helping pin point the atrocity! Lol!

So when the drain plug was removed, the gasket was deteriated so it wouldnt seal good.
New gasket with rubber seal & no leak since!!

Thats good, much easier fix than replacing the rear seal!
