Procomp heads
Procomp heads
Im considering a set of Procomp heads #3003 for an upcoming 383 build.
Im looking at a set cnc'd to 68cc chambers. Does anyone have these heads?
The flow #s look good for the price from Skip White. A question i have is are
Rocker stud holes 7/16-14 as typical on most after market heads? Thanks

They're cheap for a reason. If you're on a shoestring budget go buy someone else's used heads and get something good for the money spent.

Re: Procomp heads
It appears the ProComp heads are Chinese copies of the Edelbrock heads.
I've been thinking of getting a set of complete ProComp heads from Skip White, which appear to be a pretty good setup.

Re: Procomp heads
I have used pro comps before and they are not good! To start with I don't believe those flow numbers for a second. And if you do believe them look at how low the exhaust flow is compared to any other head with the same intake flow. They are just junk. They have to use big crazy cams to make any power.
Save up a few more dollars and get a set of profilers. They are around $1050 shipped.
195 cc's if you going to 6500 rpm or 210 if your going to 7000 rpm

The only flow spec they have is at 650 lift. That is a worthless number

Re: Procomp heads
Could be a decent new head could be junk
As said peak # doesnt mean anything most just use it to sell heads as everyone foams at the mouth over peak # and just dont know any better.
Might try posting about those heads on speedtalk guarantee someone there has had thier hands on a set.

Re: Procomp heads
Yeah, I had a bit of a poke around a couple of local (Australian) forums several months ago, from what limited anecdotes I found, they get an ok rap from the Ford guys, at least for racing. They've only moved to an sbc offering recently afaik, and as noted above there's scant info on that ebay listing, or on their site.
Price is much better for us over here tho, for any decent aftermaket set from any mfg (ie anything better than Procomp) you're looking at $2k - $4k a set.
