350 TPI sensor location questions
So I finally have my sons 350 TPI motor back from the machine shop and we put it all back together. But all the sensors were removed at the machine shop and none were returned.
Here we go:
Water temp sensor - on drivers side head.
Fan switch sensor - on passengers side head.
Knock sensor - on block passengers side right above oil pan.
Now here's the BIG question:
Oil pressure sensor:
Keep in mind this is a 1987 GTA - There are two sensor connections. One above the oil filter and another behind the TPI intake.
Can someone please tell me why and do I REALLY need both of them ?
Thanks in advance for your help !

Re: 350 TPI sensor location questions
The 3wire one above oil filter is for the dash and a fuelpump switch. The one up by the intake is kind of just for the dash. iirc.
You should have one or the other, not both unless they did that for a few years?? I get a lil foggy b4 1988 cars.
All the info should be in the factory service manual.

How many wires go to the one above the oil filter an how many go to the back of the intake?
Can you post a pic of each plug?

Re: 350 TPI sensor location questions
Ok, you need them both. Top one is for your dash oil psi gauge and the one by the oil filter is for the fuel pump.
They hadn't gone to the simple 3 wire, one sensor above the oil filter yet.
I think they did in 88? I know for sure they did in 89.
