Modify Powermaster Alternator?
I am in the middle of installing my new alternator and that post where the battery cable mounts to, hits my valve cover. I can't really re-clock the alternator because my procharger support brace won't be able to be hooked up to it. So my question is can I dissemble the alternator somehow so that I can maybe just install a short stud or something instead of having the block there for the cable to bolt to?
Re: Modify Powermaster Alternator?
Cut the extra threads off just outbord of the nut. Don't use any washers and use a cheap parts-store replacement nut like they sell 50 to a bag (i.e. thin). It'll clear.
I've done this on every single serpentine 3rd gen I've owned that got a set of non-stock valve covers put on it!

There aren't any threads past the nut. Its a threaded hole that takes a bolt though it. The block itself that the wire bolts to is too big and hits the valve cover.

Re: Modify Powermaster Alternator?
You might want to call Powermaster. I had that issue once and I was able to send them the alternator and they moved the stud for the power connection to the case of the alternator for better clearance. It didn't cost much and I had it back within a week or two.
