Ok, i have an 87 Trans am, mildly built 350 carb (don't know specs), 5 speed, and posi traction. I'm willing to invest 10k into it, I'm very good with welding and fab, great at anything mechanical, and know plenty of experienced mechanics to help me if need be. What would you suggest i do to make this car just beastly while maintaining street drivability. The roads here are pretty good, so I'm not really worried about hard suspension. Personally i want to run a turbo, t56, and upgrade the suspension (don't really know what i would like to do so suggestions would be nice) i would like to put a forged bottom end and lower the cr to around 8:1 for higher boost. Anyway, lemme know what you would do. its an iron block btw.

A 9" or 12 bolt rear-end. = basically an indestructible unit. with a killer gear ratio and L.S.D./posi.

Re: you have 10k, what would you do?

I would part out the thirdgen and buy an 04-06 GTO or a C5...

Trust me, been there done that with dumping money into a thirdgen.

Yeah...if you dont have a plan of action or any idea what would make you happier with your car, You are better off gambling your cash at a casino...hey you might even double your investment...

With $10,000.. You could buy a badass LSX swapped thirdgen that is running/driving/proven reliable.. That owner may have spent 20,000+.... ....see how the cash spent depreciates QUICKLY???

Goodluck!

Re: you have 10k, what would you do?

I don't give a fck about what's going to be worth or what i could buy with the money, i want something that's unique and a work of art. I don't plan on selling this car, simply building what i can from it. I want coil overs but I've heard our cars weren't really meant for them and that it's easier to sick with the spring and strut setup..??

Get a Buick BB nail head for my wagon, and put the Buick 350X into the Bird. 50/50 split

Re: you have 10k, what would you do?

If I had 10k and could only spend it on my third gen? I would buy

9inch or 12 bolt posi with either 3.42 or 3.73 gears

T56 rebuild and swap

Full blown suspension rebuild (EVERYTHING)

Ram air hood

New paint job.

Is that $10,000?

Re: you have 10k, what would you do?

Not everyone would consider paint as a upgrade.
I do, and one that made a "huge" difference in my car.

I beleave it could be considered a work of art.

Hears my DD =

Who told you that?? That's a silly statement. Of course they weren't meant for them because they never came with them. These cars never came with Ford 9" rears, high horsepower engines, and all that stuff either. That shouldn't deter you.
