Misfiring barely idles, what happened?

Hey guys, my car has been running like a dog the past week and yesterday i was replacing the canister filter and the vacuum lines on the canister. Then started it and I heard what sounds like lifter tick. I then traced it down to a plug wire that was burnt on the manifold and arcing, I changed the wire and now the car barely wants to run and idles at 400-500 and has a misfire. Is there anything that could have been affected by the arcing such as a burned out plug? I still have the ticking sound and it's definitely coming from the passenger side bank. I was gonna pull the valve cover today but after hearing how it's running right now I think I need to look elsewhere at the moment. The car has all new cap, rotor, wires, plugs, tps, iac, egr, alt, battery, as well as tons of other new stuff. I'll try to attach a video I took

Possible that a valve was damaged, sounds like it'd be worth it to pull the covers and see if anything seems amiss. Push on all your springs, have someone turn the motor over and watch em to make sure they all move..

Thanks for the reply, I guess that is where I'll start. It's a tired old 305, my dad promised me that if I moved to Florida with him we would swap in a 350 but he hasn't lived up to his promises so I'm stuck with this

That sounds like a lifter tick, I'd definitely pull the covers and check to make sure they're all working/a rocker didn't slip off or something

I just took the cover off which was a pain in the *** and nothing looks wrong, the rocker arms seem kind of loose. I'm gonna have my dad bump the starter while I watch the valves and get back to ya

springs all seemed normal, pushrods looked straight and weren't loose. I'm gonna buy a compression tester and check compression tomorrow morning, starting to consider the head gasket and I kind of hope it is, 350 vortec time.

Re: Misfiring barely idles, what happened?

Checked the compression, all of the cylinders were above 175 except for cylinder number 1 which was at around 161. is it really possible for the timing to slip a tooth? I've read that it doesn't happen with chains. maybe the an injector went? I tested all my injectors a couple months ago and they were all reading around 17ohms. If anyone can give me any other troubleshooting methods I'll gladly follow them
