Car dies just ONCE each trip.
Im beyond confused! Car has been tuned. Plugs and wires, coil, cap and rotor has been done. Also air temperature sensor. Will take a few seconds to start and requires me feeding it a little gas. After it has started up, I will drive for about one minute and at the first stop sign or red light it will die. I'll flash it up fine right afterwards and it will be great. Im going to change the fuel filter today and then test for fuel pressure to see if it might be the pump. I've read on here that maybe it's the IAC and TPS?
Any ideas are appreciated! Thank you!

i would also check that your coolant temp sensor is reading correctly
also the MAF sensor is pretty sensitive i would check to make sure it isn't dirty although usually you should get a code for low MAF if that is the issue
do you get any MIL codes?

I just bought it a few days ago so I'm not sure.. the CEL comes on but I still need to figure out for which codes. Im cleaning the IAC and EGR today so I'll see if that fixes anything.

I agree that this is probably an issue with the relationship between coolant temp and fuel management. It could be that the MAF, or any other critical sensor, is borderline and the problem is just more prevalent when the engine is cold. However, since the problem occurs on the first stop after a long cranking cold start, I lean more towards an issue with the engine coolant temp sensor. I wouldn't think of fuel pump as a likely cause for this kind of problem. The fuel pump would be more likely to cause you problems under heavy load or during a long drive at speed, where fuel demand is higher. Check the ECT sensor connector for corrosion in the terminals. It is a two wire sensor at the transmission end of the engine in the thermostat housing. It has one black and one yellow wire. Definitely read codes. They can save you time pinpointing the issue. Look for a code 14. Whatever codes you get, post them here for further assistance.

It was in the shop yesterday, mechanic pulled a code for the MAF. I went to my friends house and swapped out our MAF sensors because theyre the same car, and it ran great. So I'm assuming I should replace the MAF? Hopefully they're not too pricey!

The main issue with replacing the MAF is finding a good remanufactured unit. I have had an 87 Buick in with a recurring MAF failure. It took three A-1 Cardone remans to finally get one to last more than a few months. I don't know who all is doing them for the 89 2.8. I would avoid Cardone if possible. You might look to see if Bosch themselves offers a rebuilt unit. I believe they are the OE supplier of the MAF sensor. Most likely them or Delphi. Maybe you can find an NOS(new original stock) GM part that someone has stashed away somewhere.
