car stalls out of nowhere
car stalls out of nowhere
i have had this car for about a year now. it is a 92 firebird V6 3.1 and it has no performance parts. i was driving in town when i heard this loud clater on the bottom of my car after i heard where it sounded like something fell out of my engine. then not to long later my car stalls out of nowhere no studer just died on a interstate. i ended up getting home and i fixed the sound it was from water pump. then my car kept stalling still. i can drive but anytime im at a slowing down position i have to put my car in neutral and rev the car alot. then put it in drive and go. i have tried replacing the fan motor because my car got hot, and i have replaced the fuel filter and i replaced the spark plugs and wires about a month ago. i also replaced the coil pack. i have tried everything i can think of to try and get my car to stop stalling but nothing has worked at all. does anyone here have any idea what it could be?

Did you replace the water pump? Can you tell whether your themostat is working properly? Did it overheat on the interstate when it died?
Re: car stalls out of nowhere
Yes I replaced the water pump. I replaced the thermostat about 3 or 4 months ago. I was told that it showed on the gauge 1 time it went close to overheating but I was sitting still when it happened. But it hasn't overheated anymore. I was told that it sounds like it could be the crank position sensor
