engine just wont get gas
Hello im kinda new to the forums so please excuse any lingo i dont understand.i have a 1984 camaro z28 5.0. H.O. and over the past few days i been trying to get it start after its been sitting for quite a while (roughly 2+ years). the car doesn't seem to be getting fuel and ive done the following things used a air horse to unclog the fuel lines, replaced the fuel pump, and even blew out the hoses and still it wont pump gas!

Is there gas in the tank?
Disconnecting the fuel line from the hose, can you get gas to flow out of the fuel line?
Disconnect the fuel pump outlet, stick it in a jar. Crank the engine. Is there fuel in the jar?
Start from one end, and work your way to the other until you all of the obstacles to your fuel flow?

well as it sits right now i had the fuel pump on incorrectly. the arm of the fuel pump was over the bar instead of pushing against it. i couldn't try and get it to start again tonight because the battery im using is low on power (an my little 4cylinder chevy spark couldnt do much to jump it) when i replace a fuel pump will it take time to suck the gas back up the lines or should it be instant?

That sounds like blow by (the rings). That is frequently when it becomes time to rebuild the engine... to overbore the cylinder to make them round again, which means new pistons to fit the bigger bore, to replace the rings.

the thing is the engine was just rebuilt. Thought it was the PCV valve and once I hooked up the cord it started pulling the smoke away and its not smoking anywhere near as bad also I still have some gum out cleaner inside the tank of gas. I have two issues right now where whenever I put it in drive gear the engine dies and that's pretty much where I'm at now

alright so here is what im having issues with now. the car bogs down and dies when i put it in gear ( reverse or drive) i have no idea what to do. we set the idle higher on the car and that helped a tiny bit but not enough to do anything

Add in more timing at idle, make sure your vac advance hose is hooked up to a vac source.
Set idle mixture screws by using a vac gauge and adjusting to highest vac levels

Re: engine just wont get gas
so i have a NEW update of whats going on
changed all the spark plugs
fixed my leaking holly carb
(should i start showing pictures and video?)
so the car moves, sounds bad like a clicking as it drives but it could be that there is no power steering fluid lol. after i got it up the hill ( we live up on a hill long story) the front brakes decided to stick so now i have to figure out how to unstick them. Also the oil cap is still smoking and last but not least the dang alternator wires were burned by the side of the motor and now i have to rewire that....this car has been a huge pain in my rear. so far this is my second week in the project >.<.
as far as the vac hoses im kinda stumped because most are hooked up but the one i found unhooked i have no idea were it goes to fml.
Edit: oh and nothing but my battery gauge is working correctly
