350 engine swap
Well my question is, I found a 350 TBI engine out of I believe a 92-94 chevy truck and I'm wanting to know if I would be able to use my TPI off my 89 305 on that engine or are the heads different between a TPI and a TBI engine or are they Vortec heads on the 92-94 350? Can anyone give me a for sure answer to this question?

Yes, your tpi will bolt directly on. Note the heads nor cam are performance pieces on the tbi 350.

Re: 350 engine swap
So I'm assuming with that being said the engine isn't a roller cam engine and the heads are just a run of the mill so to speak? What's the issue with the heads on this 92-94 350 TBI? My issue is, I bought a 89' 350 TPI Camaro engine from a guy on the east coast (Pennsylvania to be exact) and with all the snow they've gotten out there he can't get to it he say which I could understand that and I'm putting a lot of faith in this guy not screwing me around, I'd like to wait it out and see if he pulls through or if I'm just getting screwed but in the mean time not let an engine go that would still work for my car.

The block should have roller provisions but chances are the cam itself is still flat tappet. The heads are commonly called swirl ports. There's a vein behind the intake valve to promote swirl. They don't flow nor port very well. Look up swirl port or '193 heads' and you'll see. As far as bolting together and working the 350 will go in and work just fine.

I looked this up and now I understand what you're saying, almost half of the intake port is blocked! I do appreciate your help in my lack of motor head knowledge! I'm gaining every time I come here and read though and that's what matters! Again thanks for your time and help!

An 89 LB9 might even be a faster engine than a 350 TBI engine stock.

Re: 350 engine swap
You could swap your top end and valve train over to the 350. I have not worked with the TPI stuff but am assuming that you probably want to swap over to a 350 ECU also? The 305 heads will give you way high compression so you will have to run 91 octane fuel. Being that your heads use self align rockers I would also upgrade the valve springs, drill out the push rod holes in the head and run 1.6 rockers if you swap every thing over.
