small block 350 heads issue for 89 camaro
Hello all, I bought a set of small block 350 heads from a friend of mine because I was replacing my old ones. After I was about ready to install them I realized that the heads weren't as tall and they were not center bolted like my original heads. I am trying to figure out if these heads will still work and if not then I will need to buy new ones. The engine is a small block chevy 350. I believe it is in the range of 87-95 and it is in my 89 rs camaro. I just bought a edelbrock tbi intake the other day and all I need is to get the heads situation figured out before I can put it back together. Any input and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

the last three numbers are what matter the 416 are 305 heads that is why they are smaller they are around 58cc chambers

Looks like you have 4 boat anchors
Re: small block 350 heads issue for 89 camaro
well they are smaller than my original 305 heads from before I swapped to the 350... I just thought maybe they were older heads or something... looks like i might have six boat anchors...
Re: small block 350 heads issue for 89 camaro
What about these numbers? 14102187? These numbers came from the very original heads that were on my 305 before I swapped to a 350. They don't have the 416 you were talking about.

The small block chevy is very interchangeable. You can out 1955 265 cid heads on your engine and it will work.
Yes the heads you bought will bolt on and work if you match rest of parts right.
The big diff here is center bolt valve covers vs perimeter bolt valve covers.
Rocker arm style. The chevy bolt heads also got self aligning rocker arms, where the perimeter bolt heads got non self aligning and the two types of rockers can not easily be swapped. Most use the type of rockers that head was made to use.
Intake bolt pattern. The perimeter bolt heads had all 12 intake bolt holes at an angle.
The center bolt heads had the 4 center bolts of intake at a more straight down angle.
