Hey guys i really need help i have a 1987 camaro iroc z28 the car runs fine its my daily driver just the problem is that when i come to a stop or im slowing down my rpms drop an my oil gauge drops to 0 and my car shuts off i crank it an crank it an wont start like if there is no gas so after a couple of minutes of it cooling off it starts right up i changed the oil pressure switch an sensor the egr the tps an nothing im wondering if its my oil pump what do you guys think???

 

It's an electrical problem.

Getting any codes? is the problem more prevalent when it is hot out? (or, when you are running the heater on high??)

 

I actually havent scanned it i dnt have a abs to do it an its actually after i run it for a while that it happens or if im back an forth i move it like 5 feet an brake an it starts to bog an i have to rev the engine to where the oil gauge goes up

 

I would take a look at either ignition module, (getting hot, and failing) or ECM. (same reason)

 

You think the air flow meter has anything to do with it as well ?

 

EGR valve dirty? Check that out before you go too deep into tearing things apart.

 

I actualy replaced it a week ago

 

Does your oil have a slight gas smell to it?

 

You know what i actualy smelled it right now i asked my wife to smell it an it does

 

Check you injectors, o-rings and regulators out. Sounds like you might be washing a cylinder or two.
