Will SBC Vortec heads fit on an older engines.

Thinking about rebuilding my old 1967 300 hp 327 but using newer Vortex heads. I know that they require a matching intake manifold. Will they bolt on directly or does the block have to be modified? I would like to use this engine in my 1989 RS Camaro. I would be using my old 348 tri-power carb setup with progressive linkage on an Eldenbroc air gap manifold for vortex heads.

Yes they are a direct bolt on except for the intake.

They have 64cc chambers. Though many report they measure in at 66cc if they haven't been cut.

A real 300 horse 327? I'd be tempted to sell it to a restorer and use the proceeds to buy something else.

But, as the General stated, they will bolt on to any Gen 1 SBC (will not work on LT1 style blocks).

By the way, it's "Vortec", not "Vortex". I changed the thread title for you.

sell the 327 to someone who needs it, and build a 350. For that matter go to your local parts yard and get an entire roller cam vortec engine. Free horspower is what roller cams are.

Are you sure about the Air Gap part? I don't see a listing for a Vortec 3-deuce Edelbrock Air Gap manifold.

Not 3-deuces, though.

Performer style 3 x 2 bbl only. No Air Gap.

https://www.summitracing.com/int/sea...illocation=int

There is a 2 x 4 Air Gap available though.

EDIT: I see I'm a little late to the party...

fuelly probably typed it correctly. I have to be very mindful, because my auto-correct keeps changing Vortec to Vortex, too.
