Wierd problem

Hi all,
I have a little problem with my 1990 RS 305.
I have disconnected the tach wire from coil. When I start the car the tach will read 1000 and run and drive just fine. As I drive the tach will start going up. When it hits 4 grand you cant give it more gas or it will bog down. When it hits 7 grand you will have to pull over and turn car off. You can restart it and it starts all over again.
I hope someone has an idea what this is.
thanks

Re: Wierd problem

If you disconnected the tach from the coil and the tach still reads then you may have disconnected the wrong thing.

So is the car running itself to redline?
