Sway bar in fuel tank?

Hey guys, quick question: do all third gens come with a sway bar in the fuel tank? If not, which models? I have a 91 RS 350 with carb, originally V6, and I was wondering if the guy who did the swap took out the sway bar when he took out the electronic fuel pump. If so, I want it back! Sometimes when I come out of a turn, if I don't keep my foot on the gas, the engine dies.

Thanks in advance!!

Boy-o-boy-o-boy.
I think you're going to need to do some clarifying.
I can't tell if you're talking about an "anti-sway bar" that is meant to keep the bpdy from moving too far from the suspension.
Or, if you mean a fuel pump pickup on a swivel. Sometimes fuel pump pickups will move under lateral G's, to stay with the fuel.
Which one?

Definitely the fuel pickup in the fuel tank. Thanks!

Ok, if you had a rear sway bar on your car then he had to take it off to get the fuel tank out. BUT, the sway bar shouldn't have anything to do with your engine dying in turns as far as I know...

See above post: it's not the anti-sway bar, but the pickup in the fuel tank itself that sways back and forth when turning. The anti-sway bar is in place and not the problem.

Are you talking about baffles in you gas tank that help keep the gas from splashing around as much???????

The fuel pump and strainer are stationary. They don't "sway' at all. The only moving part would be the gauge float that moves up and down.

You should already have the "big bowl", so if you're experiencing fuel starvation on hard turns, either the guy put in an older tank, the bowl is broken up, or he didn't replace the strainer and/or fuel filter.

Did he put in another fuel pump, or install a mechanical on the block?

Also, it might not be the tank. You should check the float level in the carb.

what happened is that when he took out the fuel pump in the tank, he didn't add anything to the fuel line in the tank to ge the pick up back to the bottom of the tank. the fuel pump is about three inches long. it slides onto the fuel line in the tank. i took mine out. and the person that did it for me was supposed to put some line back on it to compensate for the missing pump. he didn't now when i'm about 1/4 tank, i can take a right turn and the line goes dry because the line goes dry.

I would check the floats in the carb it would take a long time to get the fuel from the tank to the carb. If the car dies in the turn then it is in the carb. If the car dies about a mile down the road then it is the gas tank pickup. You have to use some common sence and realise that it would take a litttle while for the fuel to reach from the tank to the carb. I would bet that the floats in your carb are sticking or hung up. Just my $0.02

Thats not necessarily true. I have a 91 firebird that does the same thing and I have TBI. I know for a fact that its the lack of baffles in the tank.

read his post. the previous owner took the original electric fuel pump out of the tank. so the pickup line is about three inches higher. it only happens when he is low on fuel.

That makes sense..

Actually, all kidding aside, what you said altogether makes sense. That's a good thing to check if the original poster get to the end of his wits.
