Single Air Snorkel/ Open element questions

Hey Guys, I have a problem. I upgraded my engines carb from the computer controlled quadrajet and went with an Edelbrock. My car is a 305 1986 TA. Problem is i have been using the aftermarket edelbrock air cleaner and it just seems to be sucking in the hot engine bay air and my car gets sluggish.
Q: I am able to put my single snorkel back on to use with the new Edelbrock carb. What is ya'lls opinion. Open or single snorkel.
Q2: With my stock 305 would i notice a difference upgrading to the HO duel snorkel.
Q3: Lastly, if i upgrade to a 350 would the duel snorkel be a must?

Thanks in advance.

Re: Single Air Snorkel/ Open element questions

On a Firebird there's not much reason to run the dual snorkle scoops, since they don't have headlight buckets. The OEM single is restrictive. You can feel a real world difference going to the dual on a stock LG4 Camaro. That said the price is way out of line unless you're just really in love with the dual. The typical open element air cleaner is a compromise, it's hot air, but lots of it. If you want cooler air, you need to come up with an aircleaner, and duct the intakes to a cool area.

Re: Single Air Snorkel/ Open element questions

1st question - did you also swap to a vacuum advance distributor?
You can't just only swap to a manual carb. Do you have to pass emissions in VA?
