Because our lord Jesus Christ believes that your car has a higher purpose

Seriously...

Thats about as good an answer as youll get without providing key pieces of information such as what sort of car, year, engine, any modifications that youve done etc.

Re: Not firing right up

carb or injected? if carb, is it Computer Controlled or mechanical.

if its carb'd you might be experiencing a bit of vapour lock. Even mine with a decent size pusher pump in the tank still seems to get a little bit of v lock after a warm run.

Re: Not firing right up

When attempting a hot restart, does the starter crank the engine normally or too slowly?

Starter is strong, seems more like a fuel thing... idk. I hope it's not the fuel pump?

Re: Not firing right up

More likely that there may be injector or regulator leakage, allowing extra fuel into cylinders. Does it help to open the throttle slightly when starting hot? If so, that's another sign of excess or pooling fuel.
