Throttle Cable...

I need a new throttle cable, but the parts suppliers list two different lengths for a V-8 thirdgen.
How do I know which one to order?...

I'm not sure why the snarky response... the guy is asking a legitimate question...

any rate... probably is the case that you have one length for TPI and one for TBI (TPI being the longer one).

Just a little humor, nothing to get alarmed about. But really, why wouldn't you measure your old one?

LOL!!! I knew someone would say that, but....well...I sort of...threw the old one away. I never expected there would be 2 different lengths...

Well, that little bit of info would have helped. The TPI cable is longer i believe. So if you have a carb, i would say the shorter one.

'Sorry, this is a carbed '83. They didn't have TPI, although some had CFI. My only other GUESS is that maybe one is for cruise control and the other not, but that isn't mentioned in online catalogs. My car does not have cruise control...

Re: Throttle Cable...

Can you look at the ends of the cable and see a difference?

Re: Throttle Cable...

Interesting that none of the gurus here seem to know why there are 2 different throttle cable lengths for '82-'86 carbed thirdgens...
