89 Camaro tpi 5.7 Crank but no Start
I bought an 89 camaro tpi 5.7. Started and ran fine when I bought it. The problem is it pretty much will start the first time but wont restart unless it sets for 5-30mins. I can literally start it and let it run for 10 secs kill it and it wont restart for a few.
I've replaced plugs, wires, rotor, icm, and ive bypassed the vats with proper resistor. I hear the fuel pump and fuel pump relay fine. I just put a fuel pressure guage on it and it is 42psi when it starts and 42psi when all it will do is crank.

Check your resistance in each of the fuel injectors
check cold, then start and let run. Then check again. Bet you have at least two bad injectors if the originals.
Are they RP greenish gray ones?

[QUOTE=Gunreaper;6256182]I bought an 89 camaro tpi 5.7. Started and ran fine when I bought it. The problem is it pretty much will start the first time but wont restart unless it sets for 5-30mins. I can literally start it and let it run for 10 secs kill it and it wont restart for a few.
I did that yesterday at lunch. The front 2 on driver side was 5.6 and 7.4. The back 2 were 12.4 and 17.2. The passenger side were all 17s except 1 was 12ish.
would that make it not start? I work at a Ford shop and our main mechanic didn't feel like injectors would make it not start.
when it wouldnt start we sprayed starting fluid in it and it ran. Took a couple sprays and car picked up and ran on own.

Yea looks like you def have some bad injectors.

If you wan to make sure, get a noid light and see that you are getting an injector pulse when cranking. I also would think if the injectors were faulty and that is the sole cause of this then they would give you more consistent issues but crazy things happen all the time. If you don't see pulses on the the one you are testing, you can disconnect the rest of the injectors in that bank to make sure a bad one isn't pulling the rest of the bank down. If then you get pulsing you have at least one bad injector in which case just replace them all.

Ok got a noid light. When I put it on the first injector first crank and start the light pulses. However when the car would only crank but not start the noid light pulsed but faintly. Idea?

You need injectors. The faint light is because the alt isn't running and the starter draw is pulling the battery voltage down. Trust us - with those ohm readings it is an ABSOLUTE IRON CLAD GUARANTEE that you need injectors. The TPI system is well known for this - the RP injectors had problems with the insulation on the driver coils.

When you are seeing a dim pulse disconnect the two low resistance injectors (and/or all injectors on that bank) you measured and see if it gets brighter again. Also agree with the others, they are measuring bad, replace them.
