90 TBI won't start
Hi, this probably a simple issue, but my car that just was running great will only turn over without starting after stopping for just a few minutes. I'm waiting for my friend to get here to help check if I'm getting spark or fuel but in the meantime I tried the paper clip thing and only got all 12s. Will it only set a code if the problem happens while the motor is running? The check engine light is on while cranking and stays on with key released but still on, but that's normal isn't it? My mind has gone blank as it sometimes does when stuff like this happens so would appreciate your help.
Oh yeah, and if the ignition module is not working does that keep the injectors from working?
Thanks, Henry

Is it flooded? If so, hold the pedal to the floor while you crank it, should start eventually. Happened to my TBI truck, so that might be your problem.

I doubt it. I hadn't touched the gas, I never do to start it but will be checking everything tomorrow when there's some light to see by. Right now it sits in the driveway. If I could push it uphill into the garage I would
but there aren't enough wheaties in the world to make that happen
Thanks though

Re: 90 TBI won't start
Sounds like an ICM to me. I had a couple of these go on me in different ways. One died, there was no spark, the other died, and there was spark however the second the motor tried to fire the spark would stop momentarily, kill the motor and repeat the process for as long as you cranked it - kinda acted like a killswitch.
Not certain on its effect (if any) with injection, someone else might have to chime in there.

Re: 90 TBI won't start
That's kinda what I'm hoping for. This one is an actual GM one that I replaced only about 3 years ago and I use good thermal paste on it but
stuff always works great right up until it doesn't . Hope somebody knows about the injectors. I can hear the pump prime but can't see in the tank to know that the hose from it to the fuel line in intact. I guess that means the fuel relay is good though
This getting dark at 4 oclock is annoying
Thanks, Henry
