Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
Just run a normal copper plug. Platinum plugs are good when the plugs are hard to access to change. I don't think any low end performance gains justify the extra cost of a high end spark plug.
If you change your copper plugs every few years like you're suppose to, they'll work just fine. Copper plugs are designed to last about 2 years. Platinum plugs are designed to last about 5 years.
You could get 12 HP (claimed) by changing a dirty air filter to a clean K&N too.
** EDIT** My mistake. I thought the E3 were a platinum plug but it looks like they are still a copper plug so not as expensive as the platinums.
Sure. If you can get the plug in the proper heat range for your engine then go for it.
** EDIT 2 ** Just looked up the price. amazon.ca has the E3 to replace my NGK race plugs at $11.54 each. My NGK race plugs are about $3 each from the local Napa dealer. Personally, I don't think it's worth the extra expense.

Do not use e3’s. They are junk and do not do anything beneficial

Waste of money.
Just use NGK or ACDelco copper plugs.

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
I havent and dont see how there could be any gain.
only way that would happen is if spark gap was too wide for the motor and it was misfiring imo
a customer brought in a heads cam v8 that seemed to keep hitting a limiter at 6300-6400 when i had commanded 6700 in tune. Reved find to 6700 free rev, but would not under throttle on dyno. Couldnt figure it out in tune so pulled a spark plug and out came e3’s. They had a very wide gap and the person didnt know any better. I bet it was over .100”. Despite all those ground straps it would not fire a 355 whp v8 setup which isnt that hot of a setup. Put in regular ngk gapped at .040 and pulled to 6700 easy and made more power

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
All kinds of things can give HP gains. $100 for a claimed 12 dyno HP isn't that great considering not all engines are the same. I doubt you would even feel that extra HP with the butt dyno.
If you were racing in a class where every tiny percentage of HP gain is worth any cost then it's a good deal. For the average street car, it isn't.
I laugh at all the big name racing claims for the plugs. Of course they're going to give credit to the plugs. They're a sponsor. They probably could have won with NGK plugs as well. When you look at top fuel, they use up 16 spark plugs in one 1/4 mile pass. That's a lot of spark plugs to use over a weekend of racing.
As mentioned above, E3 plugs can not change the gap. I also look at the design and I can see issues if you need to index the plugs. My plugs are all indexed. If the ground strap was at the bottom, the piston would hit it. The E3 ground strap is huge with very little opening to have facing downward.

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
Would you trade off 12 HP, for sitting by the side of the road with a PO'ed member of the desired sex TO YOU in the pass seat? (I'd say "a PO'ed girl/woman" but what do I know...)
Yes: Then E3 plugs are FOR YOU.
No: Avoid ALL "gimmick" plugs and stick with OEM types. AC/Delco, Motorcraft/Autolite, Champion, Denso, NGK, Bosch. No matter what the brand on the box, just look it up for your car, and if it's the one that fits, go with it.
A stock 305 in your year would use something like AC R44TS or R45TS, or the nearest equivalent in ANY of the other world-wide OEM brands as listed above. AVOID gimmick plugs like E3, +4, etc. No particularly good reason to put anything other than the OE AC/Delco in it unless they're out of stock. You won't get ANY horsepucker out of any of em.

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
My last set (last month) of Delco R45TS were made in China. I didnt notice till after I installed them and saw it on the delco box. I'd check the country of origin first before buying any plugs.

So? I use NGK race plugs and they're not made in North America.

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
I just installed a set of Accel shorty non-resistor copper plugs in my 86 TPI and they are working excellent. Doubt they are USA. It's what I could get local and I needed them right away. Just drove 800 miles over Christmas in my TA and cruising the interstate at 85 MPH was fabulous. I shortened up a Craftsman 5/8 spark plug socket on my lathe, removed the rubber insulator and was able to get to each plug with my Dyno Don headers.

Re: Question on e3 spark plugs
Not saying you have to buy North American made products, just warning others about checking delco plugs, since my last set was made in Mexico and NOS made in USA ones are available regularly on ebay for less then the Chinese ones in the local parts stores. But hey, if you want to support China, that's your choice.
