Modifying vortec heads

I just picked up a set of vortec heads and they just so happened to not be cracked! So now I'm looking to swap them onto my sbc. But my cam had to much lift for the heads. For everyone that has used the comp tool, what all do I need to make this possible to have more lift?

Comp 787 retainers
0.050" offset locks
Behive springs.

Be sure to measure but if you have the valve seals fully seated this should give you just under 0.600" retainer to seal clearance and allow you to run a 0.550" lift cam.

Would these be the same, but all in one package?

Re: Modifying vortec heads

Won't fit your heads.

The retainers, keepers, seal, and guides are for LS valves, which are different from SBC ones..

I've used a couple of those. Worked fine for me.

Re: Modifying vortec heads

Mostly because it would be almost $300 just for springs, retainers, and deals if I went the beehive route. I would rather spend less than that and be able to use cheap springs

You can get 787 retainers and GM beehives for $200 or less and 0.050 offset valve lock keepers are cheap.
