I've got a quick question about my 1990 Firebird Formula with the TBI 305 engine. I recently acquired this car. As you can see in the photo, the PO added an Edelbrock open air intake and valve covers. These are the valve covers with only two holes. One for the PCV valve and the second for the breather/oil fill cap. For some reason, they put the oil fill under all the hoses on the passenger side and kept the PCV valve in it's typical place.
My question is, after having to remove hoses just to do an oil change, is there any reason I can't swap those two parts? Put the oil fill tube/breather on the driver side and move the PCV valve and hose to the passenger side?
your valve covers are probably exactly the same, it probably just has a rubber filler cap. you can probably just swap the grommet and filler cap and run a new vacuum line.
Hi Chris, thank you for your reply. Sorry if I wasn't clear, my question was can I just switch the pcv valve and the breather/oil fill tube (not the covers themselves)?
According to the part numbers both the breather and the pcv valve use the same grommet. So, the only issue might be slightly lengthening the pcv valve hose.
But I wanted to make sure there wasn't a reason it was set up this way to start with.
