88 gta need help after diy engine rebuild
I am today cranking it
It has fuel pressure
and after I can smell gas
I checked my spark plug wiring firing order 2 times
it's not starting
I think I'm 180 off I heard a pop 2 times
I'm gonna go crank it again and listen and maybe try quick start
just a bit
if it's still not starting it has to be 180 off
what's the easy way to do it
Ty for the help advice

Re: 88 gta need help after diy engine rebuild
it just backfires 2 times so I stopped
it has to be the 180 out
I was super sure it was on
I had the valve cover off and watched 1 it looked like if was tdc
this happens everytime I take it apart
It was running perfectly just smoking oil minority
I put new rings and new rod bearings and put new gaskets
the problem is I can't check the compression in all 8 unless I take the headers off
I just got new reflex gaskets
I can't only snake the tester in past the 2 driverside 2 passengers side front cylinders

Probably the wrong #1 TDC; the #1 TDC where the #1 exh valve is closing and the int is opening (which is also #6 firing), instead of the #1 TDC where it fires.
Eeeeeeeeeezzzzzzy enough; line up the timing marks more or less, lift the dist acoupla inches, turn the crank exactly 1 turn, drop the dist back in. Piece o cake.

Re: 88 gta need help after diy engine rebuild
I just took 4 hours and redid the 180 out dist timing
and it started first crank
instantly
zero gas pedal
and I shut it off
I forgot to hookup my wideband o2 so it had a leak I heard it
it nerds coolant and oil top up
I'm gonna let it run tomm with me watching for leaks
thank God
I wish there was a way i could get past the 180 out forever
does anyone know good ideas so if only does this everytime
