Not Getting Gas

I am restoring a 1989 CAMARO R/S with a 305 TBI engine. I have installed a new gas tank, new fuel sending unit, new fuel pump, new fuel filter and two rebuilt throttle body fuel injectors; however the fuel system is not delivering gas to the engine. I checked power at each injector using a NOID light and the light flashed when cranking the engine so it appears they are getting power. It seems fuel is getting to the TBI assembly but not through the injectors into the engine. I can pour gas into the throttle body and the engine will run for a few seconds then die so I’m nearly certain it would run if it got fuel. As I mentioned, I replace both injectors so I don’t think they are the problem. What else could be the problem?
Thanks for any and all help.

Re: Not Getting Gas

I'm not certain how to check the pressure. I don't think there is a port on the fuel line to connect a pressure gauge on this engine. How do I go about checking the pressure?
I do believe the relay is working since I can here the pump fire up when I turn the ignition on.
Thanks.

Re: Not Getting Gas

Did you put a new fuel pressure regulator membrane in the fuel pressure regulator ( part of the TBI unit) ? May want to look there. And that picture of a TPI engine shows something that does not exist on a TBI

Re: Not Getting Gas

No, I didn't do anything with the fuel pressure regulator. I checked on how to rebuild it and it looks pretty easy so that will be my next step. Thank you very much for the suggestion. That might be the key. I'll let you know the results. Thanks again.

Re: Not Getting Gas

It is a TBI and not a TPI but I certainly appreciate your suggestion. It looks like Chevy had both in play around this time and it does get confusing. I'll keep your suggestion on file for future reference. Thanks again.

Re: Not Getting Gas

I replaced the fuel pressure regulator membrane in the fuel pressure regulator and that did the trick.

The engine now starts with just a couple cranks and idles very well. Thanks for the advice henryd3. That was exactly the problem. Thanks again.
