Re: Oil pressure sensor location

There is no "sensor". If the car has a oil pressure gauge, there is a SENDING UNIT threaded into the top of the engine block (V-8) next to the distributor. If there is just a warning light, there is an oil pressure SWITCH...

Re: Oil pressure sensor location

In the future, it would be ideal to remote mount any Sending-Unit/ Switch/ or Aftermarket Sensor to a place off of the Engine.

Interesting. Can you elaborate on this?...

Yes.
Simply the movement/ vibrations of the Engine can shorten the life of the Sending-Unit/ Switch/ Sensor.
Also erroneous data/ information may result from not remote-mounting.

This is something that I actually did long-term testing on, when I was with GM SPO.
The early Third-Gen Oil Psi Sending-Units (can-style) were notorious for failing from Engine vibration.

This becomes even more important with aftermarket/ high-detail Sensors for systems like Holley EFI.
The Holley PCM does about 100 Times the Data Monitoring... compared to a LS1 PCM.
Shielded Wiring for Cam, Crank, Oxygen, Knock, VSS, and many others... is necessary to prevent lost or corrupted Data.

Re: Oil pressure sensor location

Hey guys pulling my hair out! I have a 1982 Z28, that was originally a crossfire injected engine. I cannot find the oil pressure sending wire. I pulled the bulkhead connector and there is not a wire in the E5 slot where the oil pressure wire should be? Did it run through the old ECM harness by chance? Can I just add a connection on the E5 slot on the bulkhead?
Thanks
