Try replacing the oil pressure sensor, located just above the oil filter.

definatly replace the sensor (providing you've checked your oil level lately ). Sorry, couldn't resist the chance to be a smart@ss. When mine went bad it read next to nothing on the guage. I got my new one at Napa for $38 if I remember corectly. Prolly would have been cheaper at Advance or Autozone, but the guys at Napa never give me the run-around.

I hope that sensor is the problem, I still owe $1800 on the car and cant afford 4 her to break!

Be careful when you buy the oil pressure sending unit. There are two types: a long and a short version. If your car requires the long version, the short one will not clear the lip for the oil pan. I ran into this problem when Advanced Auto Parts accidently gave me the wrong part the first time (Not a complaint about them. I have been generally very happy with their service).

The short one is for '86 and earlier cars that needed one for the idiot light as well. The "short" version screws into the block at the back of the manifold (clearance was not an issue there), but we are talking about a '92 here so he won't have that one.
