hvac not blowing very hard

i wasn't sure where this belonged so if this is the wrong forum feel free to movie it. (1991 base firebird 305 tbi.), the heat&a/c "work" fine. the a/c gets down to about 33 degrees but it doesn't blow hard. the high setting DOES work it just doesn't blow hard. you can put your hand up to the vent and feel the cool air but if you move your hand back 10 inches you cant feel it at all. because of this lack of flow the car never gets cool. i replaced the fan last summer sure that was the issue. i was told that wasn't it but i did it anyway and it wasn't the issue. i need ideas from you guys who have gotten your systems bowing hard. its hot here. i replaced the fan but havent done anything else so im open to all ideas/ suggestions.

Schmutz (leaves, grass, dead bugs, mud, you name, if it's gross, it accumulates there) on the surface of the evaporator; hole in the side of the evap housing right above/next to the exh manifold

Re: hvac not blowing very hard

Could be several things, but most common is probably the vacuum vent diverters not functioning properly. Put your hand up by defrost vents and see if you have lots of air flow there. The default is for air to flow through defrost so when not enough vacuum is diverted to the other vents or if they are sticking you will find most of your air coming out on the windshield instead.

im getting air in the defrost vents no matter where i have the vents set. i will add that the flow seems low there as well.

That would be, lack of vacuum that controls the doors. If they're all "at rest", defrost is the result. Check all the vacuum lines that lead toward the control head.

Re: hvac not blowing very hard

I had to repair the HVAC control vacuum switch to get consistent air. Mine would blow defrost for 5 to 15 minutes before finally slowly transitioning to the dash vents. Here's a link to that repair procedure: https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/inte...anent-fix.html
