Hey folks, junior member here. Just picked up an 82 trans am with the 4 speed. Spent a good part of the day troubleshooting an inopt speedometer. The upper cable is good, the actual speedometer works when tested with a drill, and the transducer checked out. (cruise control car) Speedo gear is fine too. The problem is lower cable is not rotating. Coming out of the transmission is a speedo gear housing that has a 90 deg bend in it to better meet up with the cable I guess (1st picture). The female end of the housing (2nd picture) is rounded, not squared, but has a key slot. The smaller, squared speedo cable just floats in there and doesn't get any rotation (3rd picture). Not sure if the housing is missing an insert or something. I did find an adaptor with GM part # 88961013 on Amazon that looks like it might work, but not sure. Thanks
