Oil Pan recommendations

I need a new oil pan for my 383 stroker 1985 camaro. Old one is dented in nicely and cracked. What oil pan will fit? Also what's the best gasket to use? I hear one piece felpro is good?

The list is long on that. Just google "oil pan 1985 chevy 350".

Felpro makes good gaskets.

Re: Oil Pan recommendations

depends on what block he built the 383 out of (RH or LH stick,1 or 2 pc main) 1 pc Felpro is good. LH stick, look at 1975-79 aplications ,RH 2pc-1980-85,RH 1pc,1986-95

I didn't build the motor unfortunately. I do know the cast number is 14010207. It's an 80-85 block. The oil dipstick is on passenger side (RH). What oil pan would u recommend?

Re: Oil Pan recommendations

I looked around and there are several special Moroso and Milodon pans(extra capacity, temp sender bungs etc.) suitable for a 1980-85 SBC or you could just get a stock pan for those years.I don't know if those cheap Taiwanese chrome pans fit decent

Arent the moroso pans a bit wider from the bottom? Would it be hard to make the clearance? Thank you for searching them up for me! Just trying to make sure i get the right one. Also I'm hearing there's a 2 piece rear main seal vs a 1 piece? The pans sit differently?

Re: Oil Pan recommendations

some of the Moroso pans do have a wider sump others look close to stock.I think most application 80-85 SBC pans will work except corvette-those have longer, shallower sump. The '86 up 1 piece RMS pans have a different radius diameter at the rear. The special aftermarket pans might have crankshaft oil scrapers, baffles thicker material and other special features you may or may not want and some were quite expensive-~$450 .

Re: Oil Pan recommendations

You said 383. What year is the block?
Check these out if you want better than stock without breaking the bank: https://kevkoracing.com/collections/...-appearing-pan
And T.L. is correct - Speedway Motors has quite a selection and good prices. sbc oil pan | Speedway Motors, The Racing and Rodding Specialists
