Gear shifter button loose

My gearshifter button is loose, meaning I can pull it all the way out.

Shouldn't there be some locking mechanism ?

Re: Gear shifter button loose

When I took the auto shifter out of my '83 the button/shaft could be pulled out as well, if that helps.
