Replaced hood struts and started on fuel regulator

Struts took 10 minutes but fuel regulator too about 90 minutes.

Loosened runners bolts (had to break them as I believe nothing on the engine has ever been apart).

One of electrical 4 plug connectors fell apart in front of TPI.

Lucky I have a nearly new tpi unit from an 90 9k mile vette.

Worst part is one bolt on the regulator is rusted and the other is stripped.

Will drill and tap them out tomorrow.

Might want to make sure your egr valve holds a vacuum since you have the plenum off.

Adjustable fuel pressure regulators were not factory, so if those pictures were clicked during disassembly, and it looks like they were, then it does appear to have been taken apart in the past. Some people have drilled and tapped the factory regulator to make it adjustable, but yours isn't that. If your other TPI unit has the fuel rails and regulator, then take a look at it. If its regulator is still stock, then it will look like this:

Re: Replaced hood struts and started on fuel regulator

Better just find a new regulator base, drilling those bolts out are pretty much impossible.

It sure looks gray but should be black. Ive never had good luck with the green map sensor connector, if they've spent any time under the hood, snap goes the tab. Never broke the red tps or iac connector.

Re: Replaced hood struts and started on fuel regulator

You can easily unpin the connectors and replace . You might double check the pin slots but this might be the tps, they have iac as well.

just verify pin slots in plastic before ordering

Re: Replaced hood struts and started on fuel regulator

Had to use my dremel to create a screwdriver slot.

It worked. I have about 3 tabs broken but will replace those eventually.

I will get a factory cover soon also.

Runs a little high so it is vacuum somewhere that is causing it. Gonna go for a test drive soon.

Thanks.

Also noticed my orange ac wire was fried. Well that will be next weeks job.
