I have a Chevy 350 5.7L 880 in a Jeep CJ7 and cannot get my eyes or camera on the block numbers however I can see that it was made in Mexico and “1M0523 5ZZ4” is stamped where you would typically find the ID Code or VIN and “6463 188” and “MY0405 2” is stamped on the Driver’s side rear, facing backwards. See the attached photos for reference.
I am hoping someone can help me understand and identify this block.
Thanks in advance!
They’re visible once the valve cover is off. I’m thinking there aluminum heads and you have a gm zz4 crate engine. The head numbers will tell you what they came on.
I thought the zz3 & zz4 were not Mexican made but could be wrong.

They are definitely Mexican 880 blocks. GM shifted the production of the 350s all to Mexico because Mexico and South America was still getting them in trucks through about 2007.
Judging by the aluminum pocking out of the accessory holes and the ZZ4 stamp. My best guess is that is a legitimate ZZ4. The other number with that one is some form of serial number stamped into it.
I was able to get some photos of the casting numbers by using my Go Pro camera mounted on a tripod. Looks like a 10243880 but I can't figure out the "2" and the "05" above "Hecho en Mexico" or the "I34" near the shift dial stamp. Thank you all in advance for your assistance.
So one follow up question. The seller claimed this was a "359"ci but couldnt explain any further, he had inherited the vehicle from his father when he passed away and was only second hand info. I can't seem to find any info on a "359" other than assume it has been bored and stroked for larger pistons??? Any thoughts and thanks again in advance.
