1985 v8 5.0 305 carb IAT location?!

People say it’s in my air cleaner. It’s not. At AutoZone they show me a metal IAT sensor. Since it’s not in the air cleaner, where the heck is it!!!

Pretty sure your car doesn't have one.

Why are you trying to buy it?

That's interesting. Is there one screwed into the intake manifold? I don't think that I've ever seen a Carb'd GM V8 with a IAT sensor.

Let me look this up. What engine VIN number is your car?

It's probably a VIN G, but doesn't matter, it's the MCS on the carb'd car.

Re: 1985 v8 5.0 305 carb IAT location?!

You said you had code 23 when you MCS was unplugged. Code 23 in a carb car means "MCS, the MCS is open or grounded, check all wiring and connections, adjust or replace MCS.". You "checked the connection", found it disconnected, and plugged the MCS back in; and told us it's now gone. Which of course was the exact right thing to do. You're now all done with code 23.

Those "codes" mean different things on different engines. After all, there's only just so many "codes" available, so lots of them they have multiple meanings, according to what system they're being applied to. Generally then, though each code may have multiple "meanings" and lead to multiple possibilities in the "troubleshooting charts", only ONE of them applies to any given engine.

In this case, since the meaning about MCS applies to your engine, the one about IAT does NOT.

You don't need an IAT because you don't have one.
