Le9 305 needs new cam any suggestions

Hi looking to replace the cam in a 83 Le9 305. I picked up from a friend a set of stock 98 059 heads with a stock rebuild along with the intake for a carb setup. I figured while I have it all apart I might as well throw in a cam that would complement the heads. I’m not looking for radical just a flat tappet cam that will push the power band up a smidge so I can pass people on the freeway without a bunch of noise and no go. I prefer not to have to change the tq converter at this time so something mild but will breath until 4400 rpm’s. Any suggestions on a off the shelf cam

Comp XE256 if your gears are 3.23 or lower; XE262 if higher.

Assuming of course, you have headers and a decent free-flowing exhaust. If you still have manifolds and stock exhaust, ... nothing will matter. It'll all SUCK. Any other cam will probably be worse than stock.
