Tilt wont lock + igintion dead on steering column
Went to fire up the 91 Z28, and three issues:
- Tilt steering wont lock (rocks up and down)
-does not seem to lock wheel for "left/right" steering
-key is like turning in mud (No spring) and does not power up anything (not even aux)
I have owned this 91 Z28 since new and stock steering column. All three issues happened t same time.
Any suggestions or replacing parts/links?
Thank you for any help!

Re: Tilt wont lock + igintion dead on steering column
Is the whole tilt mechanism loose? Meaning does the wheel and housing (where the key and turn signal stalk are) move around up/down and left/right?
That's really common. If it's doing that, its loose bolts in the tilt mechanism that need to be tightened. A few special tools, but not hard to do. When it loosens up like that, the ignition lock linkage can also jamb up.

X2
Also, there are three bolts that hold the tilting part of the column to the tilt mechanism, I've had columns where those loosen up and cause the same symptoms. Either way, you need to tear the column apart to fix it.
