Evap canister relocation.....
So I'm cleaning some things in the engine bay and of course, the evap canister is an eyesore for all of us. In my TA I was able to relocate the canister to the crash bar. But in my camaro, this isn't feasible that I can tell so far. My question is this.... does mounting the canister upside down (under its original home) affect its operation or effectiveness?

I'm not sure if the Camaros have the same space, but I relocated mine to underneath the tray it normally sits on. All you need to do is extend the wire harness and the vacuum lines.

Do you have a Firebird or a Camaro? I'd have to make a tray for it to sit on under the battery tray. Or I could bolt it to the bottom of the battery tray and let it hang upside down.

Don't mount it upside down it isn't designed for that and will possibly leak charcoal into your intake system. Keep it upright and remount in underneath maybe. My 1987 Camaro has its original mounted under driver side battery tray area. It was designed to be mounted there and has tabs to attach on top of the canister. You could also make your own out of PVC pipe and fittings from Home Depot and make it to mount anywhere.

I have Trans Ams. I had to make my own brackets to mount it.

Check out post #8 for photos. I used a repro SLP bracket that was used to relocate the canister when the SLP fresh air box is installed. If one has basic metal fab skills, they could easily make one. the photo shows it mounted on the right side of the car. basically it mounts to the crash bar back side. has a little lip at the bottom that holds the canister, you can see it in photo. then you wrap a big clamp to hold in place, also shown in photo.
