Site Issue

I attempted to post this in the "Problems/Help/Suggestions/Comments" subforum, but the thread wouldn't post, so I'm posting this here since it's the most active of the subforums, and maybe it will catch Admin's or a moderator's eye.

In clicking on a link in my email notifying me that there was a new post in a thread in which I had posted, I get this message instead of being directed to the thread:

"vBulletin Message
Your listing has been successfully saved and is awaiting moderator approval"

Can anyone provide some insight as to what's going on with this message? Is there a site problem with email notifications?

Thanks.

I encountered the same error message last night, but I was trying to refresh a thread I already had open.

Trying to post this thread in the "Problems/Help/Suggestions/Comments" where it belonged didn't work either; it just never showed up there. No idea what's up with that.

Re: Site Issue

Yeah there is something weird going on with the site.

I was on here most of the day yesterday and was watching a thread with a guy having a 91 Z28 TPI auto wanting to pep it up a little bit. He had replied in a few other threads too. I was going to reply to his thread and had replied to him in another thread he posted in. Then he and his threads and posts just went poof and disappeared. Like he got sucked into a blackhole. He didn't do anything even remotely ban worthy and members don't just disappear without a trace when they get banned.

He just got Men in Black memory erased.

Can you provide a link to the thread in question?

We have an updated anti-spam filter that automatically scans and moderates any posts that appear to be spam. We've had the product before but there are a few, key, improvements. There will be some false-positives from time to time, as we continue to fine-tune the settings and the spammers adapt and require changes.

The error message referring to "listing" is in error, as it's not a listing but a post.

Having been a moderator for nearly 10 years on a huge non-automotive forum site with over 18 million members (no longer in existence) that also used this same vBulletin format, I'm very familiar with its nuts and bolts. But that message was a new one on me.

I suspect that maybe a poster using multiple user accounts (in violation of forum rules) was involved. Just a hunch, but so many of these '1-poster dreamer' posts seen lately, trolling to get people to jump through hoops and post long replies to basic questions, all sound very much alike.

Yep. Had to copy it to a notepad page, then re-copy it before it would even post here:

https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/show...03#post6556403

Additionally, my post in that thread is no longer listed in my CP under "My Posts;" it has disappeared. And FWIW, the thread in question had been on the site for a few days; it wasn't 'new.'

That's the same thread I was looking for and the one Airwolfe mentioned.

JT's post's mention of a new spam filter points out what is the likely culprit. And while I don't recall any post in that thread to be even remotely akin to spam, sometimes you can never tell what an algorithm might see.

This is such a well-run site that the few times bugs have appeared, they completely caught me by surprise. vBulletin is an older forum format, but with regular maintenance and upkeep, will run as well or better than most others out there, is user-friendly and easy to navigate.

The thread is back. It was flagged as spam for manual review. As I mentioned, we have an newer updated anti-spam tool. We don't want to get into any public details on how it works, but it's not a tool you will find on any other non-IB site because it was written/developed in-house based on what we see and know from our sites.

Like I said, there will be some adjustments needed and some false-positives. There is no perfect system. Thanks for the link so that we could resolve it quickly.

Thanks guys. I am very new here. Been a senior corvette forum member for over 20 years now. I promise I am real. Just going back in time with the 91 Z28.
