perfromance problem...
ever since i did my first burn out it seems as if it did something to my car. it was running stronge as hell before i did it and know its running sluggish, and instead of 20mpg iam getting 10mpg. Do you know what it could be? maybe the fuel pump?
i have a 5 speed 84 camaro with a 71 350. Right after i did it i noticed the performance loss and it started to shift way to smoothy, before i did it you could notice that there was alot of power every time i shift because the car would jerk a little, and it wasnt from not knowing how to shift, unless i got amazingly good after the burnout.

Thats is probably going to be a big part in the problem you are experiencing. You might have made the valves hit the piston.
WHOOOAAAA!!!
I got the same reaction!!
Thats insane, my bro did two burn outs with my car at different times, I still haven't, but I have noticed a reduction of power, and I too also get like 11mpg!! Seriously if he fvcked something up, I'm gonna fvck him up, big time!!!

But I really don't think no matter how high you raise the rpms the valves would never touch the piston, if it did your car wouldn't even run!!! The valves would be destroyed, and the piston would have a giant gash in it.
Plus, the faster the piston/crankshaft then the faster the valves/camshaft. So they would never contact each other.... unless you broke your timing chain!!

You may have gotten enough rod stretch that you hit the head or the valve hit the piston. Just a thought. But I’d say it was something pretty major.
Blade... if the car doesn't shift as hard as it used to then I suspect the clutch is slipping. This would cause crappy mileage.
I doubt there is any engine damage. Over reving would cause a knock in the lower end as well as lower oil pressure.
Time to inspect your clutch.
The 5 speeds don't have stops on the shifter fork meaning that it is possible to break things if you yank too hard

the phrase "floating the valves" comes to mind...
inertia overcoming the valve spring capabilities= smiley faces on the pistons and bent valves...
