cam bearings are normally changed only during rebuilds

the cam turns at 1/2 crank speed so they last 100K+ miles. Just be carefull and dont gouge them putting the new cam in.
bolt the top gear on temporarly to help hold a good grip on it during install

no as long as they appear alright, you should be fine. however if you were going to do i complete rebuild i would suggest you get the block dipped and hot tanked, new cam bearings and freeze plugs.

I dont know how necessary it is to chang the cam bearings, but they are only 15$ at summitracing.com. However i dont know how easy it is to change the bearings your self? i got my changed at the machine shop when they bored my block. I would ask someone that is more knowledgable about that. Any way the part # at summit is CLE-SH1349S. Sorry if i didnt answer your question. good luck with the cam, intake, and heads.

Installing new cam bearings isn't something you want to attempt with the engine in the car. So if you're plans dont involve pulling the whole motor, don't even worry about it. Just add the cam.
