How much is this car worth?

You can't really figure out this car with the blue book. 90 RS that started life as an E motor car. ~100,000 on the car, but the engine has unknown mileage. The engine is a 94 Vortec 350 with a Whipple charger on top. The engine sounds tight. The tranny is 700R4, but I don't know if it's original. The paint is oxidized, the spoiler is messed up, there's a big dent in the rear quarter. The car is relatively straight and rust free though. The interior is bad, the A/C leaks and/or needs rebuilt, the dash is messed up, and it doesn't run well because the builders don't know how to work with ECMs. So, I'm just trying to figure out what people might pay for a car like this to see if I'm in the ballpark. Thanks for the help.

If you want to sell, could try listing your unique car on ebaymotors. Middle of winter is a slow time for selling cars, probably get more bids in warm summer months.

According to kelly bluebook:

"1990 Chevrolet Camaro RS Coupe 2D

Engine: 8 Cylinder Gas
Trans: Automatic
Drive: Rear Wheel Drive
Mileage: 100,000

Equipment
Power Steering
Tilt Wheel
AM/FM Stereo
Alloy Wheels

Consumer Rated Condition: Fair
"Fair" condition means that the vehicle probably has some mechanical or cosmetic defects, but is still in safe running condition. The paint, body and/or interior need work to be performed by a professional in order to be sold. The tires need to be replaced. There may be some repairable rust damage. The value of cars in this category may vary widely. A clean title history is assumed. Even after significant reconditioning this vehicle may not qualify for the Blue Book Suggested Retail value.

Trade-In Value $1,170
Trade-in value represents what you might expect to receive from a dealer for this consumer owned vehicle. Keep in mind that the dealer must then absorb the cost of making the vehicle ready for sale, advertising, sales commissions, arranging financing and insurance and standing behind the vehicle for any mechanical or safety problems.

Private Party Value $2,280
Private Party value represents what you might expect to pay for a used car when purchasing from a private party. It may also represent the value you might expect to receive when selling your own used car to another private party. "

Car: yy wife, crazy.
Engine: 350, Vortecs, 650DP
Transmission: TH-350
Axle/Gears: 8.5", 3.42

It's worth about half what the motor cost 'em.

Know how I know? Because the Vortec 350 wasn't made until 1996.

The most I would spend is the cost of gas to get me home, WITHOUT that car. :sillylol:

Blue Book is useless on a modified car in this condition. I'm looking at buying it, not selling it. Emissions don't concern me. I'm sure the motor is stock, so it didn't cost much, but the supercharger kit costs around 3500 new. The one plus is I'm the only one around who has a shot at making it run right.

after you heavily mod a car, youve spent more than you can sell it for

I have never heard of a RS having a Vortech motor stock, because as said before, they didn't make me until 1995. A "non-Vortech" 350, with a cintrifigul supercharger sounds more likely. Maybe it has Vortech heads under a Snoogin-Dickey base.

Please read the original post. The motor is not the original E motor that came in the car. The Whipple and motor came out of a 94 Suburban. It is a Whipple, which I like much more than all the centrifugals.

I know you can't get out what you've put in - that's why I'm thinking of buying the car. But, I want to get an idea of what this market thinks it's worth, which I haven't got yet - except for a blue book quote that I've already looked up and doesn't mean a thing anyway. The car is only worth what people will pay for it. I'd only pay about 2500. Any other thought-out opinions?

I'd only offer 1500.. a whipple supercharger kit costing around 3500 new???? that must be one heck of a supercharger..

an 8-71 kit is only 2,519 from summit, a 6-71 is only 2,129, and a 142 cid is only 1,479,.. which is probably what's on it

Look at whipplechargers.com. A Whipple is a much better charger than a Roots. The twin screw design provides internal compression and doesn't heat the air as much as a Roots.

$2200-$2600 if you think the engine and drivetrain are in good shape. Its really worth what you are willing to give for it, no one can tell you what that is. Go with your gut feeling and buy it.
